Ver Meer Signs With Dordt Volleyball

July 1, 2013

(Monday, July 1; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Andrea Ver Meer, a graduate of Morning Star Academy (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.

Ver Meer, a 5-11 middle blocker, posted per-match averages of 6.8 kills, 2.5 blocks, 4.0 digs and 2.6 ace serves.  She earned all-conference honors in both volleyball and basketball last season and was an honorable mention all-Quad City Times All-Metro  volleyball selection.  She claimed the MVP honors at the Pathway Christian Tournament.

"Andrea is a great addition to our volleyball program as I believe she has the physical athletic abilities to compete as a middle hitter in our conference.  Further, she has found a good starting point in her volleyball career at Morning Star Academy under the coaching of Mikhail Giza and Joy Rendall," said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson.  "Her best years of volleyball are ahead as I have seen her make quick adaptations on the court throughout her training.  Off the court, Andrea is a wonderful fit for our campus and volleyball program.  We are blessed to have her join us this fall.”

Andrea is the daughter of Greg and Sandy Ver Meer of Davenport, Iowa.  She plans to study Nursing at Dordt College.
