Dordt College summer graduate education underway

July 17, 2013

Dordt College’s summer master of education program is in full swing. Thanks to Dordt’s innovative program, students from all over the globe are able to receive a top-quality Dordt College graduate education without having to relocate to Sioux Center to do so. Students from Iowa, British Columbia, Texas, Tokyo, and more, came to campus for the one-week, on-campus session last week.

The 10-course, 30-semester-hour master of education program offers two options: Teacher Leadership and School Leadership. The Teacher Leadership track provides a theoretical and practical experience for the educator who wants to learn more about how to teach in a God-glorifying way. The School Leadership track prepares the student to become an educational leader or school principal. Most courses consist of pre-classroom work followed by one week on campus.

“Dordt’s graduate education program is rigorous, and our students tell us this all the time. However, they also tell us how worthwhile the work is and how they take what they are learning back to their schools and classrooms,” said Dordt College Graduate Education Director Tim Van Soelen. “What makes Dordt’s master’s program unique is that we help our students think through, in a very deep way, what it means to teach and lead in a Christian manner.”

The Dordt College master of education program is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Iowa Department of Education. To learn more about graduate studies at Dordt College, visit
