GPAC Volleyball Coaches' Poll Released

(Monday, August 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2013 Great Plains Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches’ Poll has been released for the 2013 season.

The Dordt College Defenders were picked fourth in the annual balloting and totaled 77 points.  The Defenders finished the 2012 season with a 22-12 overall record and an 11-5 mark in the GPAC which was good for a tie for third.  

The Defenders will open the 2013 season at the Northwestern Classic in Orange City on August 23 and 24 with four matches.  Dordt’s home opener is Saturday, September 7 when it hosts a triangular and will face Grand View (Iowa) and York (Nebraska).  The GPAC season gets underway for the Defenders with a match on the road against Briar Cliff on Saturday, September 14.

Midland and Northwestern share the preseason top spot in the poll as both took 86 points in the voting.  Voting was very tight this season with the top five teams separated by 14 points.

The 2013 GPAC volleyball season will consist of 16 conference matches with 11 teams competing for the conference crown.  Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team in the preseason poll.
