Defenders Ranked In Women's Cross Country Poll

(Wednesday, August 28; Sioux Center, Iowa)  The Dordt College women’s cross country team holds the no. 8 ranking in the 2013 NAIA Women’s Cross Country Coaches’ Preseason poll released Wednesday, August 28.

The Defenders, on the heels of a 9th place finish at the NAIA National Championships Meet and a Great Plains Athletic Conference title, took 453 votes in the poll conducted by 21 coaches across the nation.

The Defenders will open the 2013 season on Friday, September 6 when they run in the Augustana Twi-Light Meet in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  The Defenders are scheduled to run in five meets before the GPAC Championships on Saturday, November 9.

The Defenders are coached by Greg Van Dyke in his eighth year of leading the Defenders.

British Columbia owns the preseason top spot with 591 points and the College of Idaho is no. 2 in the poll which will be conducted weekly beginning September 18.
