The School for Scandal at Dordt College

September 30, 2013

The Dordt College theater arts department brings The School for Scandal to the stage on October 10, 11, 12, 17, and 19. Performances will be held at the TePaske Theatre located at the Sioux Center High School at 7:30 p.m. A matinee performance will be held on the 19th at 1 p.m.

The School for Scandal, by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, is a Restoration comedy that sheds light on the power of gossip in our lives. It raises questions about honesty, integrity, and who we are in community.

As was the style of Restoration plays of the 1700s, Dordt College will allow a number of audience members to sit on the stage during the production. Another tradition of the era was to hire people to sit in the audience and act as cheerleaders. Audience members will see Dordt’s modern rendition of this idea as well. The performance promises to be a raucous theatrical experience.

Tickets are available at or at the door for one hour before the performance.
