Volleyball Rated No. 16 In National Poll

(Wednesday, October 2; Sioux Center, Iowa) In the first polling since beating then no. 5 Midland, the Dordt College Defender volleyball team moved to no. 16 in the Tachikara-NAIA Volleyball Coaches’ Poll released October 1.

The Defenders, with a 13-4 overall mark after beating Mount Marty on Tuesday night, are up three spots from their previous stop at no. 19.  Dordt bounced back from a 3-2 match loss to Northwestern and a 3-0 loss to Nebraska Wesleyan to beat Midland in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday, September 28 by a 3-1 count.  The Defenders are tied with The Master’s (California) in the poll as both programs earned 315 points in the voting.

The Defenders are one of four GPAC teams in this week’s poll and will face Buena Vista in non-conference action on Thursday, October 3 and will host Doane on Saturday, October 5 in a GPAC match.  The Defenders are currently 5-2 in the 16 match GPAC schedule.
