Merling Trio performs at Dordt College

November 13, 2013

The Merling Trio makes “a powerful impression, with unabashed romanticism and finesse” (The London Musical Opinion). The critically acclaimed trio will give a concert at Dordt College on Friday, November 15. The community is invited to enjoy the free concert at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium.

The violin, cello, and piano trio will perform selections from Hungarian Dances by Brahms, Piano Trio in C Major by Mozart, and Piano Trio in g minor by Smetana.

The group consists of Susan Wiersma Uchimura on piano, Bruce Uchimura on cello, and Renata Artman Knific on violin. They have performed throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe, including performances in Honolulu, London, and New York City’s Carnegie Hall.

Merling Trio has released a number of recordings about which critics have hailed: “The composer could not ask for better interpreters,” and, “The Merlings play with a properly stylistic balance between abandon and control. This is an unusual and beautifully played program.”
