(Monday, November 11; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Alissa Pollema, a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.

Pollema averaged 8.7 points per game last season while dishing out 135 assists and snagging 85 steals while helping Western to a Class 2A State Title.  Pollema has started three seasons at guard for the Wolfpack and helped Western to a state title in 2012 as well.

Pollema earned second team all-state honors and is a multi-sport standout having played on state tournament qualifying volleyball teams and has won state titles with the track and field team as well.

“Alissa is an elite athlete and an outstanding guard and a catalyst on the court who makes teammates better.  She is a great passer, scorer, defender and leader,” said Dordt College basketball coach Craig Stiemsma.

Alissa is the daughter of Bryan and Barb Pollema of Rock Valley, Iowa.  She plans to study nursing at Dordt College.
