(Monday, November 11; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Abigail Pollema, a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.

Pollema has been a defensive specialist for Western the past three seasons and has helped them to three state tournament berths in a row and they have claimed two runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2012.  Pollema had 30 service aces in 2012 and 46 aces with a 1.71 digs per set average this season.

“Abby has been a steady back row passer and defensive specialist for a very talented Western Christian volleyball program and coach Tammi Veerbeek.  Her positive attitude, quick athleticism and team first focus are attributes that we look forward to blending in with our current student-athletes for the 2014 season,” said Dordt College volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Pollema has claimed all-conference honors in multiple sports and is the daughter of Bryan and Barb Pollema of Rock Valley, Iowa.
