Gesink Named To All-Tournament Team

(Monday, December 9; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Dordt College’s Kayla Gesink (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) was named to the 2013 NAIA Volleyball National Championship All-Tournament Team for her play in the five matches Dordt College played.

Gesink totaled 222 assists in 20 sets and had 23 kills with 34 digs.  She hit for a .315 kill efficiency as she averaged 11.1 assists, 1.2 kills and 1.7 digs per outing.  She also had three service aces as the Defenders defeated Cardinal Stritch (Wisconsin), Lindsey Wilson (Kentucky) and Indiana Wesleyan.  Dordt lost matches to eventual national runner-up,  Biola (California),  and Wayland Baptist (Texas),  semifinalist in the NAIA Championship field.

Gesink is a two-time all-GPAC selection and she was a 2013 third-team All-American selection by the AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches’ Association).  She was also recently named a 2013 NAIA Scholar-Athlete.
