Sign up for a filming challenge with Dordt College

December 16, 2013

Dordt College is hosting the 8th annual Prairie Grass Film Challenge where teams of filmmakers have a wild 48 hours to create a film. The 48-Hour Film Challenge kicks off Thursday, January 16, promptly at 4 p.m. CST when teams are emailed requirements for their films.

The adrenaline-rush competition is open to those high school age or older who are interested in putting their skills to the test. Participants do not have to be accomplished filmmakers, just interested in having fun creating.

Teams must sign up by midnight on Tuesday, January 14, to be eligible. Because entries are submitted online, teams from all over the country are able to compete. Last year’s entrants included teams from as near as Sioux Center, Orange City, and Hull, and as far as North Carolina, Washington state, and Missouri. The entrance fee is $35 per team.

Prizes including cash and the coveted Dordty Award will be awarded to Best of Show in the three categories: High School, College, and Post-College, plus an overall Best of Show.

A free public screening and awards ceremony will be held Friday, February 21, at 5:45 p.m. on the campus of Dordt College.
