Douma To Run At Dordt College

(Thursday, December 26; Sioux Center, Iowa) Erika Douma, a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

Douma was a part of a Western Christian track and field team that claimed a Class 2A state title in 2013 and a state meet runner-up finish in 2012.  She earned a relay state title in the 4 x 800 in 2011 and was part of a quartet that ran to a runner-up finish in the event in 2012.  Douma ran a personal best of 5:07 in the 1500 at the 2012 state meet and claimed all-conference honors in the 3,000 meters last season. 

Douma helped Western Christian qualify to a pair of state meet berths in cross country and finished 7th overall in 2012 and 14th in 2013.  She ran a personal best of 14:56 at the Sibley Invite this season and all-district and all-Lakes Conference honors in both 2012 and 2013.

Erika is the daughter of Shawn and Ross Douma of Sioux Center, Iowa.  She plans to study Business at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
