Dordt students participate in off-campus programs

December 27, 2013

This spring, 30 Dordt College students will participate in semester-long off-campus and study abroad programs. They will be living, studying, and interning in Chicago, Belize, Spain, and the Netherlands.

Dordt College wants its students to understand global and cross-cultural issues, and there is no better way to learn than to be immersed in another culture.

When students spend time in a culture other than their own, they are able to see how they can contribute to a global society. “When you live in another culture, you learn more about yourself than you do about that culture—about who you are and how you’ve been shaped by your culture,” said Linda Schroedermeier, coordinator of international students and off-campus programs at Dordt College.

Last semester, 23 students participated in programs in Chicago, Nicaragua, Los Angeles, New Zealand, Belize, Washington, D.C., Nashville, and Kenya.

Additional opportunities exist in the fall and summer to locations including Zambia, Korea, China, France, India, New Mexico, and more. For more information about off-campus opportunities available to Dordt students, visit
