Sampson To Attend Dordt College

(Friday, February 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Leighton Sampson, a senior at Southwest Christian High School (Minnesota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.
Sampson earned all-area, all-conference and all-state honors as a junior and helped the Eagles to a state championship in 2013 and back to back conference titles in 2012 and 2013. Averaging 21 points per game this season, Sampson has scored over 1,000 points at Southwest Christian. Sampson is listed as a 6-5, 230 pound forward.
"We are certainly excited to be adding a player of Leighton’s caliber to our program. He is blessed with natural God-given talent and has worked hard with the coaches at Southwest Christian to develop his game," said Dordt College coach Ross Douma. "We believe Leighton can contribute in many ways to our team and believe he will have an excellent career in a Defender uniform."
Leighton is the son of Mike and Lisa Sampson of Worthington, Minnesota. He plans to study Engineering at Dordt College.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
