Williams To Play Basketball At Dordt College

(Monday, February 17; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Ashley Williams, a senior at Lawton Bronson High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.

Williams is averaging 24.1 points per game this season for Lawton Bronson and has a 6.5 rebounding average to go with 3.0 assists per contest.  She is converting 47 percent of her field goals.  Last season Williams earned second-team all-state honors while averaging 14.1 points per contest with 5.4 rebounds per game while helping the Eagles to a Class 2A State Tournament Runner-Up finish.  As a sophomore she tossed in 15.3 points per game and snared 5.8 rebounds per contest.  Williams earned first-team all-conference honors from the Western Valley Conference in 2012 and 2013. She’s listed as a 5-10 guard.

A multi-sport athlete at Lawton Bronson, Williams has earned all-conference honors in volleyball, softball and track.

“Ashley is a tremendous basketball player who can do a lot of things on the basketball floor,” said Dordt College coach Craig Stiemsma.  “She brings great leadership and athleticism to the court.  Ashley is a great addition to our basketball program and to Dordt College.  She has tremendous character and has had incredible success in many different sports.  She’s a welcome addition to our program.”

Ashley is the daughter of Shane and Angie Williams of Bronson, Iowa.  She plans to study Chemical Engineering at Dordt College.
