Slater To Run For Dordt College

(Wednesday, February 19; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Nicole Slater, a senior at Adrian High School (Minnesota), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender cross country and track programs.

Slater won the conference and sectional cross country meets in 2013 and established a personal best of 14:44 on the 4,000 meter course at the sectional meet.  She has qualified for every Minnesota State Cross Country meet since 2008.  Seventh and eighth grade students are allowed to compete in high school cross country in Minnesota.  Slater helped Adrian to a state cross country titles in 2008 and 2010. 

Slater has qualified for the state track meet several times in the 4 x 800 and placed 11th in the 1,600 meters last season.  She’s been a part of school record setting teams in the 4 x 400, 4 x 800 and 1,600 meter medley relay teams. 

Her personal bests are :62.53 in the 400 meters; 2:27 in the 800 meters and 5:21 in the 1,600 meters.

Nicole is the daughter of Gary and Teresa Slater of Rushmore, Minnesota.  She plans to study Psychology or Theology at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
