Broersma To Attend Dordt College
March 18, 2014
(Tuesday, March 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) Brittany Broersma, a senior at Sunnyside Christian High School (Washington), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball and track programs.
Broersma, a 5-11 middle hitter in volleyball and a sprinter in track, was a part of three district volleyball champions and three state tournament qualifying teams. She was named to the Greater Colombia League All-Opponent team twice and was selected as her team’s most valuable player. Broersma earned a varsity letter four times.
““Brittany will add depth to our middle hitter position with great athleticism, competitive leadership qualities and a fun personality. Her volleyball development to this point is reflective of the work that high school coach Stephanie Dalrymple has invested into her,” said Dordt College volleyball coach Chad Hanson.
Broersma also lettered in track four times and qualified for regionals three times in the 4 x 100 meter relay and the 300 hurdles. She was selected as her team’s mvp twice.
“Brittany will be a great asset to our team and will strengthen our hurdle crew. She could also be a great addition to various relays,” said Dordt College track and field coach Craig Heynen.
Brittany is the daughter of Dean and Sharla Broersma of Sunnyside, Washington. She plans to study nursing at Dordt College.
