Serna Commits To Dordt College

(Friday, March 28; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Cory Serna, a graduate of St. Michael’s High School (New Mexico), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender football program.

Serna ran for three touchdowns and passed for 25 as a senior and threw for over 2,300 yards and rushed for over 300 in helping St. Michael’s to a state title.  He also quarterbacked St. Michael’s to a state runner-up finish as a junior and had five rushing and 15 passing touchdowns  while generating over 2,300 yards of offense. 

Serna posted a 26-1 record as a starting quarterback and is listed 5-7, 160 pounds.  He claimed first team all-state honors in both 2011 and 2012 and was the KASA Fox (Albuquerque television station) Class 3A Player of the Year.  A multi-sport athlete in high school, Serna helped the track and basketball teams to state-runner up finishes in spring 2013.

Cory is the son of Lori and Loren Serna of Sante Fe, New Mexico.  He plans to study engineering at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
