Van Maanen Picks Dordt

(Tuesday, April 1; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Daniel Van Maanen,  a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender football program.

Van Maanen, listed 6-2, 170 pounds, played quarterback for Western and threw for 1,387 yards as a senior while completing 53.4 percent of his passes during his senior season and he earned all-district honors.  In 2012 Van Maanen threw for 1,205 yards and completed 48.7 percent of his passes and helped lead the Wolfpack to a pair of playoff berths.

Daniel is the son of Daryl and Gretta Van Maanen of Hull, Iowa.  He plans to study agriculture at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
