Verhoeven Picks Dordt College

(Monday, April 28; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Alexander Verhoeven, a senior at Redlands High School (California), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender football program.

Verhoeven, a 6-2, 210 pound defensive lineman, helped Redlands to a league championship in 2010.  Redlands also made three playoff appearances during Verhoeven’s four years with the program and he was named a scholar-athlete in 2013.  He also competed in shot put for the track and field team.

Alexander is the son of James and Karen Verhoeven of Redlands, California.  He plans to study psychology and communication at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
