May 7, 2014

(Tuesday, May 6; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Tony Kallevig, a senior at Willmar Senior High School (Minnesota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender golf program.

Tony is a 5-time varsity letter winner for Willmar Senior High School and earned All-Conference honors in grades 9, 10, 11, and 12. He was Medalist (71 – 75) at the 2013 Section 8AAA golf tournament and went on to compete in the Minnesota High School State Golf Meet.

Tony finished 2nd in the Central Lakes Conference in 2011 with a scoring average of 77.8.  Tony has completed in many Minnesota PGA Junior Golf events, tying for first place in the 2012 Players Tour A division with a score of 73; and finishing second and third in two other events.  He is an accomplished pianist and also plays trombone in his high school band.

“Tony will be a great asset to the Defender golf program the next four years.  His high school and junior golf experiences have prepared him well to compete in the GPAC conference,” said Dordt College golf coach Mark Christians.

Tony is the son of Gaylen and Becky Kallevig of Kandiyohi, Minnesota. He plans to study architecture at Dordt College.
