Prairie Walk June 19

June 5, 2014

The prairie in Sioux Center is blooming, and several Dordt College professors want to showcase its beauty to the community, share some seeds, and help answer questions like these: What is flowering this month? Why was some of the prairie burned this spring? Will prairie flowers grow well in a home garden?

This first Prairie Walk of the year will be held Thursday, June 19, at 7 p.m., beginning at the northwest corner of the Dordt College Soccer Field. Everyone is welcome to come and explore the prairie, and handouts with color photos will be provided to help identify prairie plants and wildlife.

Additional Prairie Walks will be held throughout the summer and autumn so visitors can see how the habitat changes over the seasons.

Contact Dordt College Environmental Studies Professor Dr. Robb De Haan at 722-6220 or with any questions. No RSVP is needed.
