Baccam Life Service Scholarship

Dordt College alumni Syla and Tanya Baccam established this scholarship to recognize and encourage students who demonstrate a lifestyle of commitment to Christ’s service in everyday life, at home and around the world. Applicants will write a short paper to portray how they live a life of service every day, and how that life service fits with their talents and goals. This scholarship is open to all majors, and although recipient selection will not be based on academic records applicants must be in good academic standing. Sophomore and junior status students may apply for this scholarship.

Benjamin H. Van Andel Memorial Scholarships

These scholarships were established with a gift from the estate of Benjamin H. Van Andel to encourage financially needy and deserving students who strongly desire to attend Dordt College for Christian higher education. To be considered for these scholarships students must be full time students in good academic standing and must have completed the FAFSA and the Dordt College Supplemental Data Form.

Bomgaars Scholarship

The Bomgaars Store funds this scholarship for a Dordt College student in good academic standing who is an employee or immediate dependent of an employee of any Bomgaars store. If there are no applicants, consideration will be given to students who live in the vicinity of a Bomgaars location. The availability of this scholarship is dependent on annual funding.

Christian Missionary Scholarship Foundation

Dordt College students who are children of Christian Missionaries are eligible to apply for scholarships from the Christian Missionary Scholarship Foundation.

Daniel Challenge Scholarship

Jonathan and Amy Vander Vliet, two 2006 Dordt College alumni fund this scholarship to encourage students in critical thinking. Recipients will be selected based solely on essays submitted by the applicants. The essays must reflect the Dordt College reformed perspective concerning cultural engagement on a topic selected by the donors. Applicants must be sophomore or junior status students who would receive the scholarship for their junior or senior year.

Dick and Hilda Addink Scholarship

Marilyn J. and William Moore have honored her parents by establishing this scholarship for financially deserving students who desire a Christian higher education degree from Dordt College. Special consideration will be given to students interested in missions, evangelism, or seminary studies. This scholarship is not automatically renewable; however a recipient may reapply and will be equally considered with other applicants each year.

Eric Eekhoff Scholarship

Two scholarships are being funded by Henry and Kathleen Eekhoff. Preference will be given to students from Montana who show involvement in college activities, service projects and volunteerism. This scholarship is open to all majors, and although recipient selection will not be based on academic records, applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.5.

Gilbert and Janice Kamps Foreign Missionaries Children Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the children of Gilbert and Janice Kamps who wish to make a Dordt College education possible for financially deserving students. Preference will be given to children of missionaries, including children of Christian relief aid workers. Recipients must be junior or senior class status during the year they receive these scholarship monies. Eligible students are automatically considered for this scholarship. Gladys Apol Scholarship For Students With Disabilities

This scholarship is funded by a family member of Gladys Apol to help Dordt College students who incur special expenses because of a disability. Applicants must be in good academic standing. Consideration will be given to the extent of the applicant’s disability and to the special expenses incurred while pursuing a college education. The availability of this scholarship is dependent on annual funding.

Harold & Theresa De Wit International Student Scholarship

This scholarship endowment funded by Harold and Theresa De Wit, long time Dordt College supporters from Sioux Center, Iowa, intends to support students from low income countries who show a life reflective of God’s love. Preference will be given to students with a major in agriculture or political studies. Special consideration will also be given to students committed to returning to their home country upon completion of their college studies.

Jeanie E. Zinkand Memorial International Student Scholarship

Jeanie Zinkand graduated from Dordt College in 1975. When illness took her physical life, her parents Dr. John and Mary Zinkand established this scholarship for students who are citizens of countries other than the United States or Canada. Preference will be given to students from developing countries that show financial need.

JJR Upper class Leadership Scholarships

An anonymous donor funds two scholarships for Dordt College students who show strong character, Christian commitment, and leadership skills. Applicants must have a 3.00 cumulative GPA. These scholarships are not automatically renewed; however, a recipient who reapplies will be given equal consideration with other applicants each year.

Kasey and Karla Abbott Native American Scholarship

This scholarship is funded to financially encourage students of Native American ethnicity as they attend Dordt College. Recipients must be full time students in good academic standing. Preference may be given to Native American students majoring in nursing or a natural science subject area.

Mephibosheth Scholarships

These scholarships are available to help provide assistance to students with physical disabilities. Applicants must plan to attend or already attend Dordt College as full-time students. The number of worthy applicants will determine the dollar amount. Financial need will be considered. These scholarships are not automatically renewed; however, a recipient will be given equal consideration with other applicants each year.

This scholarship is available for students who are citizens of countries other than the United States or Canada. Applicants must be accepted at Dordt College as full-time students in good academic standing. Financial need will be considered.

Phoenix Heritage Scholarship

Henry and Dorothy Diekman wish to encourage an incoming freshman or a continuing Dordt College student who is a member of the Phoenix, Arizona, First Christian Reformed Church. Recipients must complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and a Dordt College SDF (Supplemental Data Form.) Financial need will be considered when awarding this scholarship.

Shubeck Family Scholarship

This scholarship was funded by the Mike Shubeck family to encourage financially needy and deserving students who strongly desire to attend Dordt College for Christian higher education. To be considered for these scholarships students must be full time students in good academic standing and must have completed the FAFSA and the Dordt College Supplemental Data Form.

Sioux Center Municipal Utilities Scholarship

This scholarship is funded by the Missouri River Energy Services. All Dordt College students who are direct paying customers or are dependents of a direct paying customer of Sioux Center Municipal Utilities will automatically be considered for this scholarship. The recipient must also be a full-time student in good academic standing.

Summer Ministries Scholarships

Dordt College funds scholarships for students who desire to participate in summer mission work and therefore are not able to finance their education with normal summer employment. Applications will be due April 9.

Van Gaalen International & Minority Student Scholarship

Della Van Gaalen established this scholarship to support international students who sincerely desire Christian higher education, however find that significant financial need makes it difficult to continue their education at Dordt College. If no international students are eligible for this scholarship, a North American minority student may be selected.

Vogel Paint Scholarship

Vogel Paint in Orange City, Iowa funds this scholarship for a full-time Dordt College student. First preference will be given to Vogel Paint or Iowa State Bank employees or their immediate dependents. Applicants must demonstrate an ability to achieve their academic goals and show evidence of a sincere Christian faith and character. Availability is dependent on annual funding.

The Vander Haag family from Sanborn, Iowa has established a scholarship fund to encourage Dordt College students who are citizens of countries other than the United States or Canada. Financial need will be considered.
