Koomans To Play Hockey and Soccer at Dordt

Lucas Koomans, a recent graduate of Fort Frances High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join both the hockey and soccer programs.

Koomans is 6'2", 175 pounds and serves as a midfielder on the soccer pitch and as a blueliner when he is on the ice.  Koomans helped the Fort Frances Muskies to three NorWOSSA Championships in soccer and three appearances in the Ontario Federation of Athletic Associations (OFSAA).

Koomans was named the MVP of the Fort Frances boys soccer team in 2013 and was also the 2013 recipient of the Douglas Morrow Award for Academic and Athletic Achievement.

On the ice for the Fort Frances Canadians (Midget AA), Koomans tallied nine goals and added 20 helpers in 32 games played last season, finishing with a +7 rating while his team went 16-15-1.  In eleventh grade Koomans had 5 goals and 15 assists in 37 games with his team finishing with a record of 27-9-1.

Lucas is the son of Paul and Karen Koomans of Emo, Ontario and he plans to major in Music with a minor in Math.
