Van Zonneveld To Attend Dordt College

July 22, 2013

(Monday, July 22; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Brielle Van Zonneveld, a 2012 Lynden Christian (Washington) High School graduate, has announced her intention to enroll at Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.

Van Zonneveld, a 6-3 outside hitter/middle blocker,  spent the 2012-13 school year at Seattle Pacific University where she appeared in six matches.  She helped Lynden Christian to a fourth place finish in the 2011 Class 1A State Tournament and a sixth place finish in 2010.

Van Zonneveld claimed first team all-state honors as a high school senior and was a two-time first team All-Northwest Conference selection.  She was her class valedictorian and a National Honor Society member.  Van Zonneveld will have three years of eligibility remaining with her transfer.

“Brielle played middle hitter in high school and found some college playing opportunities as an outside hitter.  Her versatility to play any position in the front row will be a great compliment to our court this fall,” said Dordt College volleyball coach Chad Hanson.   “In the short time I have gotten to know Brielle, she has shown herself to be a very diligent and tireless worker, a clear communicator as well as a strong student.  Lynden Christian High School coach Kim Grycel and SIVA club coach Zach Calles gave Brielle a great start to her volleyball career.  We are blessed to have her continue that career at Dordt College.”

Brielle is the daughter of Bill and Sandy Van Zonneveld of Lynden, Washington. She plans to study accounting at Dordt College.
