Defender Days Feature Athletic Events

(Tuesday, October 15; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Three non-varsity activities help fill Defender Days this weekend at Dordt College.

Along with the varsity soccer games with Hastings on Saturday, October 19 and hockey games against Iowa on Friday night and Saturday afternoon, there will be a 5,000 meter race along with volleyball and basketball action.

Friday, October 18

The Goheen Gallop 5K Run will start at the All Seasons Center with participants getting a free race t-shirt with awards going to age group winners.  Post-race refreshments will be provided.  Entry fee is $20.00 and you can register online.

The Dordt Blades will be in action on Friday night at 7:30 pm at the All Seasons Center Vernon Arena.  The Blades face Iowa and tickets can be purchased at the door.

The women’s junior varsity volleyball team will be hosting the alumni in a pair of matches that get underway at 6:00 pm Friday at the De Witt Gym.

Both basketball teams are hosting “Late Night With the Defenders”  beginning at 10:00 pm.  The teams will both have inter-squad scrimmages plus half-time entertainment, introduction of players, and more. The women will begin at 10 p.m. and the men follow. Admittance is $1, with proceeds going to charity.

Saturday, October 19

Saturday afternoon the Defenders face Hastings in soccer.  The women’s contest will start at 1:00 with the men to follow at about 3:15.

The Blades are in action again on Saturday at 4:15 as they again face Iowa.

The Dordt men’s basketball program will host alumni players on Saturday night starting at 6:00 when the junior varsity competes against an alumni team.  At 7:30 another group of alumni will face this year’s varsity team .  Admittance is $1 with proceeds going to charity.
