All-GPAC Baseball Announced

(Monday, May 5; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Four Dordt College baseball players were accorded honorable mention from the Great Plains Athletic Conference for the 2014 season.

Cam Gingerich (Freshman; Riverside, Iowa), Andy Kollbaum (Senior; Anthon, Iowa), Jake Thayer (Freshman; Littleton, Colorado) and Jason Wapnick (Junior; Windsor, Colorado) all earned post-season honors for the first time.

Gingerich batted .292 this season with 42 hits, five doubles, 18 runs batted in, 24 runs scored and seven stolen bases while starting every game for the Defenders this season.  Gingerich played mostly shortstop on defense.

Kollbaum batted .313 while catching every conference game this season for the Defenders and he played in 37 games this season.  He knocked in 23 runs and had nine doubles with 40 total hits.

Thayer played in 36 games this season and had a team high 46 hits with a .357 batting average while knocking in 16 runs.  He scored 22 runs and tied a single game record with five hits against Northwestern on April  26 and had five stolen bases this season.

Wapnick led the team in runs batted in with 28 and had five doubles with 23 runs scored and had a .274 batting average.  Wapnick played in 38 game and had a .983 fielding percentage in rightfield while handling 55 out of 56 chances cleanly.
