Four Dordt Tracksters Named Scholar-Athletes

(Wednesday, May 28; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Four Dordt College men’s track and field athletes have been named Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the recently completed 2014 season.

Tim Bierma (Senior; Sioux Center, Iowa), Chris Postma (Senior; Orange City, Iowa), Seth Vande Voort (Senior; Urbandale, Iowa) and Nathan Jackson (Junior; Modesto, California) were the honorees.

Bierma recently ran in the 4 x 800 relay at the NAIA Track and Field Championships and earned All-American honors and placed fourth.  Bierma recently graduated after majoring in agriculture.  Postma and Vande Voort both studied health-human performance at Dordt College and Jackson is a history major.

Bierma, Postma and Jackson all were accorded scholar-athlete honors during the 2013 cross country season and Vande Voort was a scholar-athlete in football.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced 233 men’s track and field student-athletes have been named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

In order to be nominated by an institution’s head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status.
