PRAIRIE GRASS CHALLENGE
The Prairie Grass Film Challenge is now entering its second decade and you’re invited to participate!
On February 17, 2017, we celebrate all the amazing films made in a mere 48-hours at our PGFC Awards Ceremony on the campus of Dordt College.
Even if you didn’t make a film, you’re going to want to come and see who goes home with the coveted Dordty Award and “Best of Show” bragging rights.
The Prairie Grass Film Challenge has become the premier event of its kind in the Midwest. We’ve completed a decade of fun, demanding competition, both locally and nationwide. The culminating event—the Awards Ceremony—is the highlight of the entire event as teams come together to find out who wins fabulous awards and money in four categories:
Best of Show: High School
Best of Show: College
Best of Show: Post College
Best of Show: Overall
Once those are awarded, the entire world has 10 days to vote online for winner of “People’s Choice.” The winners for this year—and several years past—can be viewed here.
Our 48-hour film challenge is a unique way to get people involved in film. Each year, first timers compete and so do teams who have been at it since the beginning. It’s a wild, sleep-optional 48 hours when teams actually make the films, followed a few weeks later by an elegant Awards Ceremony. Our judges look for elements of story and production value. First timers win, and so do veterans.
