Accountant

Dordt College has a full-time opening for an Accountant. The Accountant will provide support for the Comptroller and Vice President for Business Affairs in the areas of accounting projects and budget development.

Responsibilities include maintaining subsidiary records and accounting records in the general ledger, coordinating the student billing process, managing day to day operation of all trusts and annuities, helping prepare the annual operating budget, reconciling student accounts, and managing campus meal plan processes. Additional duties include completing work papers during the annual audit and serving as a backup for monthly payrolls, reconciliation of cash boxes, check preparation, and loan collection.

Qualifications include a BA in accounting, experience in accounting or general bookkeeping, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer and problem-solving skills are also required.

Admissions Data Entry/Receptionist

The Dordt College Admissions office has an opening for a part-time Data Entry Clerk/Receptionist. This is a year round position of approximately 25 hours per week. Responsibilities of this position include processing applications, entering data, maintaining prospective student information, responding to inquiries, serving as back-up coverage for the front desk staff, and greeting and assisting visitors to the office.

An AA or BA degree is preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualifications include computer skills consisting of word processing, spreadsheets, email, and Internet searches. Candidates should have some mathematical skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work accurately and efficiently. The individual in this position must have a commitment to and support for the mission of the college and the ability to respond to questions about the college from prospective students, parents, and other visitors.

Ag, Biology, Chemistry & Environmental Studies Administrative Assistant

Dordt College has a part-time opening for an administrative assistant for the Agriculture, Biology, Chemistry, and Environmental Studies departments. This position will be approximately 20 hours per week.

Responsibilities include providing administrative support to department members and coordinating outreach activities. Duties include organizing and coordinating outreach events such as Ag Day, Ag Campus Visit Day, and Health Professions Campus Visit Day. Additional duties include maintaining records of prospective students, scheduling and attending department and area meetings, overseeing lab evaluations, administering the medical terminology course and coordinating teaching assistants.

Desired qualifications include coursework in general clerical duties, computers, and customer relations. An AA or BA degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training is preferred.

Database Administrator

Dordt College has a full-time opening for a Database Administrator (DBA). The DBA will be responsible for overseeing and maintaining the operations of the campus information system.

Responsibilities include database programming and maintenance, administering various Linux systems, VMware cluster, and other related systems, and providing technical support for end users.

Related training, education or experience is required. A working knowledge of HTML, Java, PHP or Perl, SQL, Apache, Linux, VMware and Windows is required. Research skills and the ability to understand functional business areas when designing programs for end users are also required.

Director of Annual Giving

Dordt College has an opening for a Director of Annual Giving. The individual in this position develops and implements a comprehensive annual fundraising strategy, including mail, phone, on-line, and social media initiatives. Responsibilities include building and directing student phonathon callers and leaders, designing and implementing a direct mail program, managing on-line giving strategies, and directing the efforts of volunteer ambassadors in various social media channels. Dependent on the needs and related experience of the individual hired, this position may be full or part-time.

A Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills as well as leadership skills for training and supervising student employees. The candidate should be creative, familiar with personal technology and social media best practice, and highly motivated with the ability to effectively communicate the vision and mission of Dordt College in a way that inspires action and investment. Evening work and some travel is required.

Night Custodian

Dordt College has a full-time opening for a Night Custodian. This will be an overnight position with work hours of 11:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Responsibilities of this position include maintaining and cleaning campus facilities. Duties include general maintenance and housekeeping, managing student workers to assist with daily tasks and set up needs, and arranging support equipment and seating for special events.

Qualifications include a basic knowledge of housekeeping and maintenance equipment, physical skills necessary for carrying supplies and moving equipment (up to 75 pounds), planning and scheduling skills, and verbal communication and leadership skills needed for overseeing student workers. The individual in this position must be self-motivated and have the ability to work without direct supervision.

The Computer Services Department at Dordt College is seeking someone to fill the full-time role of Systems Administrator. This individual will be primarily responsible for developing, maintaining, and supporting the data center and computer network to ensure that college support staff, faculty, and students have the computer resources necessary for their tasks.

Related training, education or experience is required. Candidates should possess a strong commitment to being a team player, ability to meet deadlines, and work with a wide range of customer expectations and skills. Some physical skills are necessary for moving computers and equipment within the data center.
