Ribbens Academic Complex
The Ribbens Academic Complex houses several academic departments.
The art department’s facilities include areas for sculpting, painting, and print-making, as well as a newly remodeled art gallery and a kiln room. The art department has 13,000 square feet of centralized studio, photography, digital media, gallery, and office space, and features large studio areas with skylights, extensive built in cabinetry, vented hood areas, and dust removal systems to improve the efficiency, safety, and comfort of students learning the latest artistic concepts.
Digital media and graphic design computer labs provide workstations equipped with the latest movie production software and network servers for growing graphic design, web design, animation, and digital media classes. A soft-seating area provides space for round-table team project discussion, and a project critique area provides display space.
The teaching department has offices and classrooms on the second floor, while the history and English departments have offices in the southwest corner of the building. You can also find the Print and Mail Center on the first floor of the Ribbens Academic Complex near the history department offices.
A $5.5 million addition and renovation of the Douglas and Henrietta (Miedema) Ribbens Academic Complex was completed in 2009.
