Program Overview
Dordt University's engineering technology program offers an emphasis in construction / facilities management. Gain workplace skills with a strong biblical foundation that will prepare you for service in the construction and facilities management fields. You'll learn about project management, site and facility design, cost estimating, and more.

What You Can Do With A Construction/Facilities Management Emphasis
There are many opportunities for those who choose to study construction / facilities management, including:
Construction Inspector
Construction inspectors make sure that buildings comply with a variety of different regulations.
Field Engineer
Field Engineers inspect and install different equipment and technologies and make sure everything works correctly and designs are being followed.
Project Engineer
Project Engineers handle all aspects of a venture and ensure that project work is being completed.
Career Preparation

All students must take the engineering technology foundation courses. They also take courses in engineering, construction management, and physics.
Foundation courses
Engineering Technology (B.A.) – Foundation (common to all emphases): Engineering 117 or EGRT 115; Engineering Technology 101, 112, 115, 210, 211, 212, 213, 263, 283; a minimum of seven credits from Engineering Technology 271-276; completion of one of the Engineering Technology (A.S.) emphases.
Construction courses
Engineering 113, 114, 115, 202, 208, 212, 295, and a minimum of 12 credits from Engineering 317, 318, 319, 351, 352, Construction Management 101, 102, 207, 220, 225, 240, 270, 280, 370, Engineering Technology 379, 380. Chemistry 110 or 111, Mathematics 152, Physics 231, 232.

Science and Technology Center
While studying construction / facilities management, you'll have the opportunity to spend time in Dordt's Science and Technology Center. Informally known as the "Science Building," the Science and Technology Center is home to labs for mechanical engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, and computer-aided design.
