With a strong biblical foundation and a focus in workplace skills, Dordt's mechanical / energy systems track in the engineering technology program will prepare you for service in manufacturing engineering, industrial automation, computer-controlled engineering, and more.
Career Preparation
Dordt University's 2023 Career Outcome Rate was 99.4%! “This data point tells us that Dordt graduates are prepared for the careers of their choosing,” said Amy Westra, director of Career Development. “A Dordt education provides students with industry-relevant courses and connections that make a difference.”
Students are required to complete the foundation courses for engineering technology as well as the mechanical-specific required courses as well.
Foundation courses
Engineering Technology (B.A.) – Foundation (common to all emphases): Engineering 117 or EGRT 115; Engineering Technology 101, 112, 115, 210, 211, 212, 213, 263, 283; a minimum of seven credits from Engineering Technology 271-276; completion of one of the Engineering Technology (A.S.) emphases.
Mechanical courses
Engineering 113, 114, 115, 202, 208, 212, 295, and a minimum of 12 credits from EGR 116, 204, 209, 300, 302, 303, 312, 313, 314, 315, 381, Engineering Technology 379, 380. Chemistry 110 or 111, Mathematics 152, Physics 231, 232.

When studying mechanical / energy systems engineering, you'll have the opportunity to spend time in Dordt's Science and Technology Center. Informally known as the "Science Building," the Science and Technology Center is home to labs for mechanical engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, and computer-aided design.
