A philosophy major at Dordt means more than learning how to ask questions and debate ideas. You’ll develop through the exploration of questions about why people do what they do, what motivates them, and more.
You'll examine your basic assumptions, survey the history of philosophy, study a biblical basis for a reformational worldview, and discuss what it is to "know." You’ll also tackle intellectually challenging topics and ideas. Most important, you’ll learn how to thoughtfully apply scripture and your Christian faith into every aspect of your life.

When it comes to what you can do with a philosophy degree, the answer is almost too broad to believe. Philosophy Major
Our philosophy program is built on the core program. You'll examine your basic assumptions, survey the history of philosophy, study a biblical basis for a reformational worldview, and discuss what it is to "know."
Personalize your study by taking an individual studies course. You and your advisor will select a subject you'd like to learn more about; you'll then spend a semester researching and studying the topic under the supervision of a professor.
Co-curricular activities, such as Philosophy Club, lectures, films, and discussions, give an opportunity to talk about current issues and ideas. Some of the most thoughtful and provocative contributions to the student newspaper have come from philosophy students.
