Dordt University Director of Admissions Greg Van Dyke recently received the Annual Service Award for Outstanding Achievement from the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals (NACCAP). Van Dyke was given the award at the NACCAP Annual Conference at Charleston Southern University in Charleston, South Carolina in late May.

Van Dyke has worked at Dordt for more than 18 years. He holds a degree in secondary education from Dordt and has helped to recruit countless students to Dordt. He says he is thankful for the amazing friends and mentors he has learned from over the years.

“What I enjoy most about working in the admissions office are the people I work with and the students and families I get to meet,” says Van Dyke. “We have an amazing team in the admissions office, and it is a joy to serve with them.”

He also enjoys meeting new people, including hearing their stories about how God has gifted them and how they want to use those gifts to serve him.

“Greg is known throughout the industry for his infectious positivity and has become a go-to source for training the next generation of admissions professionals,” says Vice President for Enrollment and Marketing Brandon Huisman. “Greg fosters a joy-filled office culture that engages employees, and the Lord has blessed these efforts with record enrollment at Dordt University. I’m blessed by his leadership, friendship, and drive.”

Dr. Erik Hoekstra, president of Dordt, says that Van Dyke is a significant leader in Christian higher education. “I’m pleased that NACCAP has recognized his positive influence on the industry,” says Hoekstra. “Greg’s background as a coach serves him well as he encourages his team and delivers consistent, excellent results amidst a challenging enrollment landscape. Dordt University, our alumni, staff, faculty, and certainly prospective students are blessed by Greg’s leadership.”

“Greg Van Dyke is one of Christian higher education’s most outstanding admissions leaders,” says Dr. Phil Cook, president of NACCAP. “His expertise, professionalism, dedication, and servant leadership are evident to all who know him. NACCAP is thrilled to have honored Greg with this award. We are grateful for Greg’s dedication to our membership and his leadership of our new admissions counselor training. We know Dordt University is proud of him, and so are we!’

Dordt has had several record-breaking years when it comes to enrollment efforts. In the fall 2022 semester, Dordt’s overall enrollment was 1,858—the largest enrollment in Dordt’s history. This included a record total degree-seeking undergraduate enrollment of 1,460.

“I believe Dordt is doing well because the mission and vision of this place resonates with students who are looking for an educational experience with Christ at the center,” says Van Dyke. “Students truly have a transformational experience during their time here, and students considering Dordt notice that and want that experience as well.”
