Registration for the highly anticipated annual camp at Dordt University known as Dordt Discovery Days opens on Tuesday, April 8 at 10 a.m.
This five-day academic camp is for students who have completed 6th, 7th, or 8th grades. DDD offers students the opportunity to explore new interests or dive deeper into familiar ones in a variety of subjects such as arts, sciences, humanities, sports, and recreational activities.
“We’ve been hosting Discovery Days for over 30 years, and it’s become a generational camp—many parents who attended as kids now send their own children here,” says Becky Ringsby, signature and regional events coordinator at Dordt. “In addition to academic enrichment, we emphasize spiritual growth through praise and worship, and devotions.”
Discovery Days also gives students the opportunity to meet new friends with common interests in a Christian community. “We often hear that meeting new people is one of their favorite parts of the experience,” adds Ringsby.
This year’s schedule has been modified based on feedback from both instructors and participants. It will now begin at noon on Monday and end on Friday at noon. “The schedule is a little shorter now, giving students a more balanced experience while still offering plenty of opportunities for engagement,” says Ringsby. “We also hope the adjusted times will make it easier for families traveling from a distance.”
With limited spots available, families are encouraged to register as soon as possible when registration opens on April 8. The registration process includes several detailed questions, so the camp organizers recommend preparing in advance.
