Dordt hockey coach Tyler Morgan named MACHA Coach of the Year

Dordt University Hockey Coach Tyler Morgan has been named Mid America College Hockey Association (MACHA) Conference Coach of the Year.

The Mid America College Hockey Association (MACHA) has announced its post season honors, and Dordt University Hockey Coach Tyler Morgan was named the conference coach of the year.

Morgan led the Defenders to a 23-4-1 record this season and the program's first berth in the ACHA Division III National Tournament since 2010 with a MACHA Tournament Championship. Dordt is currently on an eight-game winning streak heading into the National Tournament beginning on March 18.

Morgan's first year as head coach for Dordt was in 2020-21 and the team played an abbreviated schedule due to the Covid-19 pandemic, while posting a 3-4-1 record. Dordt's win total has improved in each of the subsequent seasons with a 13-9 record in 2021-22; 16-6-1 in 2022-23 and 19-4 in 2023-24.
