Dordt senior Lael Bervig to perform piano recital on April 15
The community is invited to the piano recital of Dordt University senior Lael Bervig. The free recital will be held on Saturday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A public reception will follow.
The recital contains a wide variety of styles of keyboard repertoire. Bervig will be performing the Aria and some selections from Bach’s beloved Goldberg Variations. Brahms’s rich and lyrical Intermezzo in A Major will be featured as well as Debussy’s Pagodes, an impressive piece that shimmers with expression, layered chords, and Debussy’s use of the pentatonic scale. The final piece of the program, Gershwin’s Three Preludes, will bring a bold and flourishing finish to the recital.
Bervig, of Park Rapids, Minnesota, is majoring in music with minors in psychology and theatre arts. She has studied piano with Dordt music instructor MaryLou Wielenga since 2019. During her four years at Dordt, Bervig has accompanied both vocalists and instrumentalists for the Music Department. She also accompanied the Dordt University Chorale during her junior year and is currently the keyboardist for the Dordt University jazz band.
