Dordt University will partner with Geneva College of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, to give students a head start on earning a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.

Courses that students take as part of Geneva’s Social Services major may be eligible for credit at Dordt toward an MSW.

“The partnership between Dordt University and Geneva College is valuable because it creates a shorter pathway to a Master of Social Work for students,” says Joe Bakker, dean for online, graduate, and partner programs at Dordt. “The partnership recognizes the work the students have already completed at Geneva to save them time and money as they pursue a Master of Social Work at Dordt.”

Professor Stephanie Schindel, chair of the Department of Psychology and Social Services at Geneva, says that their department is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Dordt.

“This partnership will allow our students to continue their educational journey at an institution that recognizes the value of our curriculum in preparing them for a MSW program that shares a Christ-centered mission,” she says.

Dordt’s MSW is offered 100 percent online, allowing students to participate from anywhere in the world. It is taught from a Christian perspective, supporting Dordt’s mission to equip students to work toward Christ-centered renewal in all areas of life. The program offers students three tracks: clinical practice, community practice and administration, and advanced generalist. Students can participate in the program on a part-time or full-time basis, and students can enter the program at the beginning of the fall, spring, or summer semesters. Dordt’s Master of Social Work is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and approved by the Higher Learning Commission.
