Dordt University and Tyndale University announce fast-track MSW partnership

Dordt University will partner with Tyndale University to offer a fast-track MSW degree for students studying psychology and human services.

Dordt University’s Master of Social Work (MSW) program is partnering with Tyndale University in Toronto, Canada. This partnership gives students at Tyndale a fast-track to their MSW degree and a streamlined path to register with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

The partnership is designed for Tyndale students studying psychology and human services. These students will receive a waiver for select foundational courses in Dordt’s MSW program, allowing them to waive up to 15 credits. “This partnership reduces both the time and costs for Tyndale students to earn their MSW,” says Dr. Paul Franks, vice president of academics and dean of undergraduate studies at Tyndale. “Additionally, it can be completed entirely online. Given that not all Canadian students will want to relocate to the United States for their degree, the option to complete the MSW via online coursework will be very attractive to these students.”

“By reducing barriers to graduate education, this collaboration allows students to build on their existing knowledge and transition into advanced social work training more quickly,” adds Dr. Erin Olson, director of the Master of Social Work program at Dordt.

Dordt’s MSW program aims to prepare students for Christ-centered renewal in social work. Collaborating with a like-minded university like Tyndale advances that mission. “This collaboration supports Dordt’s commitment to Christ-centered renewal by preparing graduates to be transformative agents who bring healing, justice, and hope in alignment with Biblical principles,” says Olson. “By providing a faster pathway to an MSW, Dordt is empowering these students to integrate their faith with their vocation, addressing social injustices, advocating for the vulnerable, and promoting holistic well-being in diverse communities.”

Dordt’s MSW program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and approved by the Higher Learning Commission.
