Dordt University will host its annual Ag Day on Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The outdoor event will feature animals, machinery, games, food and more. This fun-filled event is open to the public.
“Ag Day highlights how important agriculture is to our community and to society as a whole,” says Gary De Vries, agriculture department instructor. “It also gives our agriculture majors an opportunity to practice being advocates for the agriculture industry to preschool through university students and area adults.”
There will be all types of agriculture equipment at the event, along with domesticated barnyard animals like goats, puppies, pigs, and cattle.
Ag Day’s smoked pork meal will also be available for purchase from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Meals will cost $7 for adults, $3 for students (K-12th grade), free for kids five and under, and $7 Defender dollars for Dordt students.
Ag Day is run by the Ag Club at Dordt. “Our students get to practice working in teams to plan and conduct this large event, which is similar to events they may be involved with in their future careers and communities,” says De Vries.
