Dordt University’s Annual Ag Day to take place on April 25

Dordt University’s Ag Club will host its Annual Ag Day on Friday, April 25, featuring agricultural equipment displays, animals, and a student-run event highlighting the importance of agriculture, with a pulled pork meal available for purchase.

Dordt University’s Ag Club will host its Annual Ag Day on Friday, April 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This event, open to the public, will feature displays of agricultural equipment, as well as domesticated barnyard animals like goats, pigs, puppies, and cattle.

“Through Ag Day, Agriculture students are able to demonstrate how important ag is to our community and some of the many ways it contributes to society,” says Meghan Jones, faculty advisor of Ag Club at Dordt. “We are so blessed in Sioux County to have such a wide variety of agriculture operations right in our backyard – from large scale to smaller, more specialized farms, and this event brings that to Dordt’s campus.”

Additionally, attendees can purchase a pulled pork meal from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Meal prices are $10 for adults (high school and up), $8 for students (kindergarten through eighth grade), and free for children four and under. Dordt students may purchase a meal for $8 using Defender Dollars.

“Not only does the Sioux Center community get the chance to see different aspects of agriculture, but this event is run solely by ag students, giving them the experience of planning and executing a large event like this,” adds Jones.
