Results of 2024 Dordt University Math Challenge announced

On October 17, Dordt University welcomed 97 high school students from 12 schools for the 2024 DU Math Challenge, where students competed in individual and team exams, engaged in breakout sessions led by faculty, and explored Dordt’s campus and community.

On October 17, Dordt University hosted 97 high school students from 12 different schools for the 2024 DU Math Challenge.

Here are the results for the individual and team exams:

1st - Mazzi Moore, Brandon Valley High School, 10.75
2nd - Milkos Baumann, Schaeffer Academy, 10.5
3rd - Joseph Block, Schaeffer Academy, 9.75
4th - Asa Byl, Unity Christian, 9.5

11th Grade
1st - William Breems, Unity Christian, 9.5
2nd - Carson Rozeboom, Southwest MN Christian, 8.75
3rd - Isaac Koole, Sioux Falls Christian, 8.25
4th Levi Groenewold, Unity Christian, 7

Team Exam
1st Place - 99 points - Schaeffer Academy
2nd Place - 69 points - Sioux Center
3rd Place - 64 points - Brandon Valley

Students first participated in an individual exam, followed by a team exam. Students heard a presentation from the Admissions team, enjoyed a meal in the Commons, and were able to choose one of six breakout sessions for the afternoon.

Breakout sessions were led by faculty members in the Mathematics Department and members of the Admissions team. These sessions covered a range of topics including a mathematical murder mystery, creative problem-solving techniques, and a campus tour.
