Van Wyk takes on instructor role at Dordt University

Kyle Van Wyk accepted a position at Dordt University as Instructor of Health Sciences. He has served at Dordt as a Sport Performance Coach since 2018 and is excited to use his new position to continue to develop the HHP program at Dordt.

Kyle Van Wyk has accepted a new position at Dordt University as Instructor of Health Sciences for the Health and Human Performance Department.

A 2010 graduate from Dordt University, Van Wyk received a master’s degree in Exercise Science at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, and has served at Dordt as a Sport Performance Coach since 2018.

Dean for Foundational and Health Sciences Dr. Jeff Ploegstra says Van Wyk has already shown dedication to the program and looks forward to what Van Wyk might do next.

“Kyle is dedicated to excellence and is willing to push into new opportunities in response to student needs and the changing HHP environment. I think Kyle will be a huge assist in the department for student advising and program outreach,” says Ploegstra.

In his faculty position, Van Wyk will teach HHP courses like “Personal and Public Health” and “Sport in Society and Culture.”

“What excites me most is the future and potential of the HHP department. I am eager to use my skill set to keep helping push the program forward, particularly in hands-on opportunities for our students,” says Van Wyk.

This May, Van Wyk taught and led Core 288 “Sport and Exercise in Society and Culture” which cumulated in a two-week trip to Scotland where students experienced sport events and culture in Scotland.
