Lisa Mouw

Instructor of Education

Lisa Mouw is an instructor of education at Dordt University. She has served in Christian education since 2003, teaching in preschool and middle school for 14 years before stepping into school leadership. During her time as an educator, Mouw has served on many ministry teams, committees, and boards to advance Christian education locally and globally.

Mouw’s areas of expertise focus on educational psychology and teacher efficacy, faith formation, epigenetics, and social-emotional learning.

“My faith shapes my view of education,” says Mouw. “Every learning experience is an opportunity to invite my students into God’s Story as valued image-bearers with an integral role to play in bringing Christ-centered renewal to the world around them.”

Classes she teaches at Dordt include Educational Psychology, Content Area Literacy, and Middle School Curriculum and Instruction.

“I am passionate about equipping future Christian educators to serve wherever God is calling them,” she adds. “I desire to come alongside K-12 educators to find solutions and meet student needs in complex and challenging contexts.”

Mouw currently serves as the CORE 100 coordinator and is on the CORE Program Committee.

In her spare time, Mouw enjoys attending her children’s activities as well as running, completing puzzles, and baking. She is actively involved in her local church, where she serves on the education committee and works in children’s ministry.
