Dr. Luralyn Helming
Professor of Psychology
Dr. Luralyn Helming serves as a professor of psychology at Dordt University.
Driven by a deep interest in achievement motivation and how individuals perceive their competence, Dr. Helming is dedicated to exploring how educators can support students in developing a strong sense of self-efficacy. She also contributes to the academic community as Co-Chair of the Institutional Review Board at Dordt.
Her research interests center on achievement motivation, with a particular focus on mathematics education and how students develop and perceive competence.
Dr. Helming's faith is a central aspect of her teaching philosophy, particularly in her approach to research methods. She encourages students to think about how their work can reflect their Christian values.
