Dr. Shaun Stiemsma serves as an associate professor of English at Dordt University.
In addition to teaching, Dr. Stiemsma serves as an instructional coach and is the head of the English Department at Dordt.
Dr. Stiemsma’s scholarly interests focus on early modern British literature, Shakespeare and English drama, and literary representations of history.
“I enjoy the study of literature as a way to understand what it means to be human, and as a way to imaginatively enter into the experience, worldview, and creativity of people from many times and places,” adds Stiemsma.
Before joining Dordt, Dr. Stiemsma taught English and popular culture at a Christian high school and held faculty positions at the University of Maryland, the Catholic University of America, and the U.S. Naval Academy.
